what we believe
what we believe
We believe that all scripture, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New testament, are inspired by God through a process in which God “superintended” or “moved by the spirit” chosen men to writethe words of scripture. Therefore all scripture is inerrant or without error as written in its original manuscripts.
God eternally exists in one essence or nature as a tri-unity of persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are not three gods and God did not appear in 3 forms at different times. They are three distinct persons; yet, they are all one God, essence, and nature.
Jesus Christ is the second person of the trinity or triune godhead. He became incarnate without a human father, by being born of the virgin Mary. He had two nature: fully divine and fully human. Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. He was born of virgin birth, lived a sinless life, and all of the miracles and teachings accounted to him as attested to by scripture are true. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
Christian Conduct and Christian Growth
The believer, having turned to God in penitent faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, is accountable to God for living a life separated from sin and characterized by the fruit of the Spirit. It is each individual’s responsibility to contribute by word and deed to the universal spread of the Gospel, the discipleship of believers and the growth enhancement of God's kingdom here on earth.
Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell are real, literal, and physical places. Heaven is a place of indescribable beauty and glory, just as Hell is a place of indescribable torment and punishment. Throughout all eternity Heaven is the final eternal dwelling place of the saved, and Hell is the final eternal dwelling place of punishment of the lost including total separation from God.
The true church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head. The true church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.
We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We also believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Return of Christ
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. We believe that the souls of the believers in Christ are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where they consciously await their bodily resurrection, when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord. We believe that after death the souls of unbelievers remain, in conscious punishment and torment until the second resurrection. When soul and body are reunited, they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment.
